Market Place Options

Last modified on January 31, 2023
The content on this page applies to Official US Retirees only

Health Insurance Marketplace

  • HealthCare.gov, for most states.
  • Some states run their own Marketplaces. Find the Marketplace in your state
  • Get a quick overview of the Marketplace

Important points:

  • SERMA can be used to reimburse certain insurance premiums ONLY.
  • The retiree should not claim the premium expenses paid by SERMA reimbursements as itemized medical deductions on tax returns or receive tax credits from the IRS under the ACA because that would be considered double pre-tax dipping and could result in additional taxes and/or penalties.
  • If a retiree does plan to receive tax credits, there is a required option to opt out of access to their SERMA account for that tax year by contacting Intel Health and Benefits. We recommend retirees check with their tax advisor when making decisions about how best to use SERMA funds.
