Networking
Networking is key to finding opportunities after you retire from Intel. Your Intel experience may make you a valuable contributor to other employers, so take advantage of the skills you learned during your career. You may want to reach out to former coworkers, especially those who have moved on to other careers and may welcome your contributions. Consider taking advantage of networking opportunities using social media, such as:
- Facebook: Connect with other retirees on our members-only Facebook Group. Interact with other retirees and put the word out that you are looking for opportunities.
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with hundreds of millions of members, and growing. Their mission is to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful. LinkedIn is a useful tool for retirees interesting in pursuing career opportunities after retiring
Encore Opportunities
CoGenerate.org was founded by Marc Freedman as Encore.org. His vision was to shift the idea of “retirement” to embracing a new life stage that offers ways to utilize acquired skills to advance one’s passionate causes. Retiring Intel Employees can apply for an Encore Fellowship while they are still at Intel. For those already retired, there are both paid and volunteer opportunities
Intel Alumni Network
The Intel Alumni Network (IAN) invites all Intel retirees to join their online community developed exclusively with the Intel alumni in mind. The organization was launched in December 2011 and has members from all around the world. The IAN mission is “Revitalizing our connections from Intel through compelling social, educational, and professional programs, both locally and globally online,” with the vision of “A vibrant community of Intel alumni engaged in both outstanding local events and global virtual conversations, supported by a sustainable business model.” Their Facebook page is their primary community site, sharing news about IAN, Intel, the industry, and alumni. They are also have a LinkedIn group at for those who do not utilize Facebook. Intel retirees are, by definition, Intel alumni and may also join the Intel Alumni Network.
