Questions and Answers about Badge Replacement:
What’s changed?
Two changes were made to the badge replacement policy, as of January 2022:
Intel is able to provide retiree badges only for employees who retired within 10 years of the request for a replacement badge. If you retired more than 10 years prior to the request, Intel will no longer have the data to support the request.
For example, if you retired in March 2008, and you request a badge today, Intel will NOT provide one, because September 2021 is 13 years and 6 months after March 2008.
However, if you request a replacement badge within 10 years of your retirement date, you will still be eligible to receive an Intel retiree badge.
If I left Intel more than 10 years before my request for a replacement, can I still get a replacement if I provide documentation to Intel of my employment, such as my first and last days, WWID, photo, or a document from Intel?
No. It won’t help if you provide proof of employment and a photo, Intel will still not replace your badge. Intel has a data capacity issue and is maintaining only the data necessary to create a badge replacement for former employees for up to 10 years after their retirement date.
What if I retired, then came back as a Green Badge employee?
You would be eligible for an Intel Retiree badge. The Intel Retiree badges are not exactly like Intel Employee badges. There will not be a blue stripe on the Retiree badge, and the badges will be paper stock that is laminated.
What if Intel does not have my picture on file?
If Intel does not have your picture in their files, they will be unable to provide an Intel retiree badge. See below for recommendations of documents to provide if you do not have an Intel employee badge or Intel retiree badge.
If I am unable to secure an Intel retiree badge, will this affect my ability to use either of the discount programs available to me as an official Intel retiree?
Purchases using the Employee Purchase Plan Store (EPP) site do not require a badge. McAfee LiveSafe® software is available from the EPP Store, so your ability to download the free McAfee software is not affected by this change. So, if you don’t have an Intel badge, and can no longer get a replacement, that will not affect your ability to make purchases from the Employee Purchase Plan Store.
Purchases using The Employee Discount Program (Beneplace) may require a badge, however. Some vendors or products require badges, others do not. Requirements for proof of Intel retiree status are defined by each vendor. See the next question for more information.
What can I provide if an Intel badge is required for purchase?
The requirements to prove retiree status are made by each vendor, so some purchases require a badge, others do not. When you select a vendor, product, or offer on the Beneplace website, you will be presented with an “offer detail” page with information about the specific offer and instructions on how to redeem, including what documentation you must provide to prove your eligibility. In addition, you may be directed to a specific merchant site to make your purchase. Requirements for proof of Intel retiree status will be noted on the “offer detail” page or on the vendor’s website. If the vendor requires an Intel badge and you do not have one and cannot secure a replacement, you can consider asking the vendor directly by email or phone whether some other proof of Intel employment would be acceptable. You may also contact IRO Support at intelretiree@gmail.com for help. Some examples of documentation that you might be able to use to provide proof of former Intel employment are as follows:
- Any type of mail delivered from the company to the recipient
- Pension check
- Retirement Check
- Recent pay stub; Retiree Plan statement
- W-2
- Company healthcare card or Retiree Medical card
- A photo ID (this might be required to prove that you are who you say you are…)
How do I know if a vendor requires a badge?
Vendors requiring proof of employment are generally those listed in the Employee Discount Program. After you have selected a specific offer (vendor, product, or service), you will be presented with an “offer detail” page with information about the specific offer, any proof of retiree status requirements, and instructions on how to redeem. You will also be directed from the Discount Program site to the specific merchant site to make your purchase. It’s possible that the requirements to prove retiree status won’t be clear until you contact the vendor or visit the vendor or dealer at their storefront or lot (for autos).
What other proof may be required to be eligible for vendor discounts?

If you request an Intel retiree badge within 10 of your retirement date, the following process to secure a replacement still applies to you:
Lost your badge? Didn’t take it with you? It’s handy to have and may be required to take advantage of some of your Intel retiree discounts. You can request an Intel retiree badge (if you did not take your Intel employee badge with you when you left). The badges are not activated and will not grant you access to any Intel facility but it may allow you to take advantage of some great offers.
Note: If Intel doesn’t have your employee photo, Intel will not provide a retiree badge.
