INTEL INVOLVED VOLUNTEER HOURS MUST BE LOGGED TO A SPECIFIC CAUSE FOR VOLUNTEER MATCHING
The Benevity portal provides several ways to log volunteer hours:
- To a specific, approved cause in the Benevity portal or
- To “something else,” which means the volunteering took place at an organization that is not approved or eligible for volunteer matching.
To begin, go to https://intel.benevity.org/user/login and sign in, then search for the cause or cause project where you volunteered and click the “Track Time” button to report your external hours.
Caution: You can navigate to the “Track External Volunteering” form by selecting “Track Volunteer Time” when hovering over “Volunteer” label at the top of the page shown after logging into Benevity. Or by selecting the “Track your Volunteer Time” box further down under the My Activity heading. Both navigations bring up the “Track External Volunteering” form. While you can use this form by doing a cause search & selection on the form this may result in logging your hours improperly. It is easier and best to log your hours by using the “Track Time” button from the cause or cause project page as explained above. This will properly fill in the cause or project on the tracking form for you.
Internal Hours tracking: For a few Intel Involved programs administered by Intel, such as the PC Pals program, hours may be logged internally (instead of externally) by Intel and will not need to be personally logged by a volunteer using the External Hours tracking form. If in doubt, ask the Intel person administering the volunteer opportunity.
To be eligible for volunteer matching grants, you must log volunteer hours directly to an approved cause in the Benevity portal. Hours logged as “something else” in the Track Time form are NOT eligible for volunteer matching funds.
If a cause, project, or volunteer opportunity is not yet eligible for Intel’s matching programs it is recommended hours be logged as above AFTER you have nominated it and are notified via email that the cause is eligible. While it is possible to track time to “something else” these hours will NOT be eligible for volunteer matching payouts.
