Update as of February 2016:
This month Intel selected the system that will manage the donations for the new U.S. based Matching Gifts Program. When it launches in Q2, employees, and retirees who make a donation on or after January 1, 2016, will be able to enter the donation details and request a match to eligible organizations. Watch for a notification announcing the system is open and instructions on how to submit a donation.
This new system replaces the historical Matching Gifts to Education tool which is no longer accepting school donation match requests. If you made a donation and need to submit a match request, please retain your receipt until the new system is available.

Intel is introducing a new matching gifts program in 2016 to replace the current Community Giving Campaign managed through United Way. This new program will provide greater flexibility and allow employees and retirees to donate more to qualifying non-profit organizations and schools.
The key changes to the program are:
– Under the yearly United Way campaign, Intel donated $5 million to local chapters of the United Way in proportion to employee donations made during the month-long campaign. This program will now cease and no corporate gift will be made to the United Way.
– In the new program employees and retirees will be able to donate all year-round to their choice of charity and Intel will match the donations to that charity dollar for dollar up to $5000 per employee or retiree per year. In addition, employees can still generate an additional $5,000 match for schools and educational institutions for a combined $10,000 per employee, per year.
These changes will make the matching gifts program a year-round benefit and increase the total amount that an employee’s chosen charity receives by making the match directly to the employee’s choice of charity rather than the United Way.
“We believe directing Intel’s matching funds to each employee’s non-profit preference is a great way of supporting our employees’ passion for doing good in our communities. In addition, by expanding our reach to more non-profits, we also deepen the impact of Intel’s donations in our site communities,” said Richard Taylor, senior vice president, and director of Human Resources.
All current commitments and transactions for 2015 will be completed through United Way. In order to allow for a smooth transition, there will not be a month-long United Way Community Giving Campaign in October. The Intel U.S. Matching Gifts Program will roll out in 2016 for employees and eligible retirees.
Details of the new Intel U.S. Matching Gifts Program are being finalized and will be announced in early 2016.
