UPCOMING 2020 SERMA FILING TIMELINE
The SERMA plan year runs from January 1 – December 31. You may file a claim for reimbursement of 2020 eligible premiums until May 31, 2021. Click here to review the two ways to submit claims. Other requirements include:

  • You are still eligible for SERMA
  • You haven’t opted out of SERMA for the plan year in which the claim occurred
  • You file your claim AFTER your health coverage began (i.e., premium for March paid in February cannot be reimbursed until March 1)
  • You file your claim before the run-out period ends May 31, 2021
ATTENTION: FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (HEALTH FSA) AND DEPENDENT CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (DCAP) FILING DEADLINE

If you retired in 2020, you have until May 31, 2021 to submit claims for eligible expenses incurred from your coverage dates. With limited exceptions, funds remaining in these spending accounts are forfeited.

To submit claims for expenses (or get questions answered) for Health FSA, Limited Use Health FSA, and DCAP visit the My Health Benefits website or call the Intel Health Benefits Center at (877) GoMyBen (466-9236).

MEDICAL TAX FORM 1095
The ACA requires employers to report retiree health coverage to the IRS. If you were enrolled in IRMP or had a SERMA balance in the past tax year, you have likely received Form 1095 in the mail.  If you have questions, contact your tax advisor.
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS OPEN ENROLLMENT UNTIL MAR. 31, 2021
If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you’ll be able to:

  • Switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan
  • Switch back to Original Medicare and apply for a Medicare Supplement plan
  • Sign up for a Part D Prescription Drug plan.

Visit Medicare Advantage Plans – Government Site.

2020 RETIREE VOLUNTEER HOURS IMPACTED BY PANDEMIC
In 2020 a total of 464 retirees logged 98,000 Intel Involved hours to 531 causes which was a significant decrease from the 146,000 hours logged in 2019 by 634 retirees for 716 causes. It is interesting to note that Intel employees’ hours were only slightly down from last year. A big portion of that was expanding “what counts” as volunteering. Primarily, parents were able to track some of the time they spent home schooling their kids (which hasn’t been eligible in the past). Intel also started counting “acts of kindness” related to COVID that aren’t done in partnership with a non-profit, like delivering groceries for an at-risk neighbor. This policy is in place until at least the end of June 2021.

A reminder that the first-round payout checks for 2020 hours are targeted for the end of May. Payout reports are announced and posted on the IRO website. No commitment of funds on behalf of Intel or the Intel Foundation should be made to any cause until the payout report has been published and made public.

TEXAS WINTER STORM CAMPAIGN ENDS APRIL 1OTH
The Intel foundation is working with Benevity to process an out-of-cycle disbursement of funds to the selected causes that have impacted so many Intel employees and the Austin community. Details of this campaigned were previously emailed and are posted on the IRO website here. As of March 4, only 38% of the $150,000 cap for this campaign has been reached. Donations can be made to the selected causes after April 10, but the Intel match would come from your annual $10,000 matching cap.
