I’m hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to spend quality time with their family and friends.
As we wrap up this year, I want to ask a special favor from all of you in IRO that maintain relationships with colleagues at Intel. As you know, Intel is having a round of layoffs and those affected employees will be let go by the end of the year. Many of us know that feeling of confusion, anger, and disillusionment when you are forced to “retire” before you planned to do so and before you are ready to go. This has to be extremely difficult and worrisome to get laid off during the holidays.
I am asking you to reach out to your friends and colleagues to offer your knowledge and help if they are impacted. If they are officially retiring from Intel, please let them know that IRO has information and checklists that can help them successfully transition to retirement. Even if they are not official retirees, the IRO website is available to all and provides access to a lot of information.
For me, I worked with so many colleagues that were tremendous friends and allies. While not necessarily personal friends, they were (and are) very important to me. If you can provide help to your former colleagues during this troublesome time, I’m sure it will be greatly appreciated and can help make this difficult transition period a bit easier. Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Howard
