THANKS IRO VOLUNTEERS!
For most IRO members, they occasionally check the IRO website or Facebook page to gather some needed information, touch base with friends or just keep up with current trends at Intel or within the Intel retirement community. It is what the Intel Retiree Organization provides.
But to keep the organization running smoothly and to assure that Intel retirees are receiving all the benefits that they have earned requires some of the volunteers (IRO is an all-volunteer organization) to move mountains.
Two of our committees are doing so now and I didn’t want their extra effort to go unnoticed (anyone remember the 125% Solution days?).
The transition to the new SERMA and IRMP payment/reimbursement platform has been rough. The IRO Health Benefits committee has been escalating retiree concerns and issues received through Facebook and the mailbox to their Intel benefits liaisons for resolution. They have partnered with Intel making suggestions for tool improvements to better guide our retiree population. As new tools and program information became available, the committee marketed these through Facebook, the IRO Newsflash and our IRO website with the support of the IRO website team. The clarity of information and tools available for use with the new platform have improved rapidly over the last couple of months.
Our Website Committee is beginning a difficult journey. The IRO website is built on software called Word Press and has used a program from that company called Classic Editor. Word Press has announced that it will end-of-life Classic Editor by the end of the year and our entire website will have to be converted to a newer program called Block Editor. Since the conversion isn’t automated, this update will require a yeoman’s effort by our website committee members. They are now training themselves on the new software and have plans in place to change over all the information and materials by the end of the year.
They are also seeking new volunteers that have an understanding and expertise in Block Editor to help them (so if you have this skill, please consider raising your hand). So for this group of IRO volunteers the work will be growing through the year, but if successful, you as IRO members will not notice their work, but will enjoy the fruits of their labor.
I just wanted to raise your awareness of the work your fellow Intel retirees are putting forth on your behalf and thank them for their efforts.
