VOLUNTEERING AND DONATIONS (BENEVITY) – Ben Manny & Annette Bachmeier, Co-chairs
| 2020 RETIREE VOLUNTEER HOURS IMPACTED BY PANDEMIC In 2020 a total of 464 retirees logged 98,000 Intel Involved hours to 531 causes which was a significant decrease from the 146,000 hours logged in 2019 by 634 retirees for 716 causes. It is interesting to note that Intel employees’ hours were only slightly down from last year. A big portion of that was expanding “what counts” as volunteering. Primarily, parents were able to track some of the time they spent home schooling their kids (which hasn’t been eligible in the past). Intel also started counting “acts of kindness” related to COVID that aren’t done in partnership with a non-profit, like delivering groceries for an at-risk neighbor. This policy is in place until at least the end of June 2021.

A reminder that the first-round payout checks for 2020 hours are targeted for the end of May. Payout reports are announced and posted on the IRO website. No commitment of funds on behalf of Intel or the Intel Foundation should be made to any cause until the payout report has been published and made public.
The Intel foundation is working with Benevity to process an out-of-cycle disbursement of funds to the selected causes that have impacted so many Intel employees and the Austin community. Details of this campaigned were previously emailed and are posted on the IRO website here. As of March 4, only 38% of the $150,000 cap for this campaign has been reached. Donations can be made to the selected causes after April 10, but the Intel match would come from your annual $10,000 matching cap.
