FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM – Howard High, Leadership Coordinator

FEBRUARY MESSAGE: WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR!
Let’s hope 2021 is a better, healthier and more prosperous year for all of us. Intel adds a new CEO later this month as Pat Gelsinger returns to the company to take the reins. I’m sure many of us worked with Pat in the past and wish the best for him and Intel.

The Intel Retiree Organization volunteers are back at work (they never really stopped) and I thought it would be good to highlight a few of IROs ongoing programs that provide service to many of us throughout the year. I would encourage you to take advantage of these resources if you have a need. Click to read Howard’s full message.

NEW SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD – POTENTIALLY IMPACTING RETIREES NOT YET ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICARE (AGE 65)
HHS announced a new special enrollment period (SEP), which will begin on February 15. This SEP will allow individuals and families in states with Marketplaces served by the HealthCare.gov platform to enroll in 2021 health insurance coverage. Beginning February 15, 2021 and through May 15, 2021, these Marketplaces will operationalize functionality to make this SEP available to all Marketplace-eligible consumers who are submitting a new application or updating an existing application. State-based Marketplaces (SBMs) operating their own platform have the opportunity to take similar action within their states.
NEW!! SIGNING UP FOR MEDICARE
This article guides you through signing up for Medicare and all the various timelines, options and state resources. Great info includes specific information on how to initially sign up for Medicare.  Enrolling in Medicare Parts A & B at age 65 is the starting point. If you are working at or after age 65, check out the link to a list of special situations you can use to determine whether you should apply at age 65 or not. We also include links to the state Medicare support sites.

Once you sign up for Medicare Parts A & B you should decide if you want a drug plan (Part D) and/or a supplemental Medigap insurance plan, or an Advantage Plan (Part C). Here is a link to a presentation Getting Started with Medicare, provided to Intel retirees and CMS.

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS OPEN ENROLLMENT UNTIL MAR. 31, 2021
Medicare Advantage enrollment is open until March 31, 2021. For more information, click on this government website.
