FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM – Howard High, Leadership Coordinator

Happy New Year! We hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2021.
For a dozen years, through the Intel Retiree Organization (IRO), Intel retirees have been assisting other Intel retirees as they navigate the retirement experience. Since IRO is a volunteer organization, I want to take a moment to thank all our IRO volunteers on our various committees as they decipher news, benefits, or other information for IRO members and those members who contribute their technical expertise to keep our website, Facebook page, News Flash, and other avenues of communication operational. Click to read Howard’s full message.

HEALTHCARE BENEFITS – Gail Womack & Cynthia Pedigo, Co-chairs

ANTHEM MEDICARE PREFERRED PPO OFFERING – CHANCE FOR FEEDBACK
During the 2021 IRMP Annual enrollment, ~400 Medicare eligible Intel Retirees/dependents elected enrollment in the NEW IRMP Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO) with Senior Plus Rx. We would like to share your feedback with Intel Benefits regarding this new IRMP option.

We are most interested in learning why this option was and/or was not selected. We encourage you CLICK THIS LINK: intelretiree@gmail.com (Subject – “Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO) Feedback”) to email your feedback by the end of January.
In your email, please indicate

  1. Whether or not you chose the Intel offered Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO)
  2. Why you did or did not choose the Intel offered Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO) – i.e., cost, features, provider network, etc.

We will send your summarized responses to Intel Benefits for their use.
Should you need additional help from the Intel Retiree mailbox, please send it under separate cover.

COMMUNICATION – Debbie Watson and Deborah Wright, Co-chairs

JOIN US on the IRO MEMBERS-ONLY FACEBOOK GROUP
The IRO members-only Facebook Group has many great, engaged discussions. Topics are varied with many people contributing. To give you an idea, the following are some of the topics of discussion this month:

  • A Minimum Pension Plan change for Intel Employees that was announced and then the change was reversed
  • Discussions about Intel’s competitive environment (Apple and Microsoft making their own silicon)
  • A 2017 Bloomberg article about unfunded pensions – with companies identified that have significant unfunded liabilities
  • A discussion about how to handle distributions within a retirement account
  • A SERMA reimbursement complaint that resulted in the retiree learning an easy monthly method to get it done
  • A video of the Intel Folsom Drone display for the Holidays!

Retirees are helping retirees on the IRO Members-Only Facebook Group by sharing interesting, useful information. If you haven’t yet joined, click here to find us.
