2019 IRO ANNUAL DINNERS
U.S. Site representatives are busy planning annual dinners that are held at different Intel sites in the fall (in Q4). Since 2006, we have charged $25 per person. In the past 13 years, prices have gone up for the event spaces and the food.

We have tried to keep the price for retirees and guests at $25, but we need to increase the prices for Oregon, Folsom, and Santa Clara to $30 maximum. Arizona will stay at $25 per person.

We hope that this will not impact your ability to continue to attend these events.

COBRA COVERAGE
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (COBRA) is a federal law that enables you or your enrolled dependents to continue medical and dental coverage if you or they lose coverage as the result of certain qualifying events.

To receive COBRA coverage, you must enroll in continuation of coverage in accordance with Intel plan provisions and federal regulations governing COBRA. To learn more about COBRA coverage (eligibility for retirees and dependents, enrollment, considerations when Medicare eligible, COBRA extensions for dependents and COBRA termination) link to this COBRA Overview.

HEALTH INSURANCE TERMS… GETTING READY FOR OPEN ENROLLMENT
When you are making health insurance decisions during the upcoming open enrollment, there are some terms you need to understand in order to compare plans. As an Intel employee you probably didn’t have to think much about deductibles, co-pays, maximum out-of-pocket, etc.

Now that you are retired you do need to think about these factors in order to select a plan that both makes the most financial sense and meets your needs. It doesn’t matter whether you are on Medicare, IRMP, or buy your Health Insurance in the open market, the terms at this link on Healthcare.gov apply to all plans. In general, the higher the monthly plan premiums, the lower the out-of-pocket costs will be.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR INTEL BADGE IS?
You’ll need it to take advantage of the Columbia Sportswear Sale Aug 30 through Sept 22. If you don’t have an Intel badge, follow the instructions here – NOTE it takes 2-3 weeks to receive your replacement badge, so don’t wait to request one.The sale will take place only at Columbia Sportswear stores in Portland, OR and Richmond CA (not online).You must bring with you:

  • The sale flyer (check the Columbia page on the Employee Discount web site 1-2 weeks before the sale for the flyer.) Instructions for logging onto the Employee Discount Page.
  • Your Intel badge 
  • Photo ID 

You may bring four guests with you who are eligible to shop the sale as well. Sale discounts offered is 40-50% off regular retail price.

VOLUNTEERING AND DONATIONS (BENEVITY) – Ben Manny & Annette Bachmeier, Co-chairs

DONATION MATCHING PROGRAM RESTARTED JULY 1
Donation matching funds became available July 1 and as of July 24 are still available. Match requests made on or after July 1 for donations made directly to causes when Q2 funds were not available were approved if the match request met all program guidelines. See the recently updated Matching Program guidelines for donation matching eligibility requirements.

ARIZONA: Mobile Pantry Food Distribution
July 27, 2019; 8:30a.m. – 1:30p.m.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to sort, package and distribute food items during this event. This benefits the local community to help families in need. Event location: Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. 
FOLSOM: Folsom Community Service Day 2019
Saturday, September 21… Volunteer Registration Opens August 5
The Folsom community is coming together again for the sixth annual Community Service Day, Folsom’s largest day of volunteerism. This powerful day of service mobilizes thousands of volunteers of all ages and interests to complete dozens of service projects throughout Folsom.
OREGON: WinCo Foods Portland Open 2019 Golf Tournament
Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, 6:00a.m.–6:00p.m. PDT (various shifts available)
This is a great volunteer opportunity, supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland, by providing fantastic customer service to spectators of the 2019 WinCo Foods Portland Open.
OREGON: Big Truck Day
Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019; MULTPLE SHIFTS from 7:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.
Get an up-close look at dozens of big rigs and other specialty vehicles at the 21st annual Big Truck Day at Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center.

OREGON: 2nd Annual Coyote’s Westside Brewfest
Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, 2:00p.m. – Aug. 11, 8:00p.m. (various shifts available) Benefiting The Hillsboro Schools Foundation, being held August 9th-11th, 2019 at Orenco Plaza in Hillsboro, Oregon. You will receive training and a t-shirt.

OREGON: Fiesta en el Parque, Party in the Park
Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, 1:30–6:30p.m. PDT (various shifts available)
As a part of your volunteer experience at these events, you will receive some training and refreshments throughout the day.
