COMMUNICATION – Debbie Watson, Chairperson
ASK IRO Mailbox Question: Is Intel now limiting how much money they will match to charities/causes from retirees/employees? If so, how do we know what the limits are and when they will be reached? If the limit is reached in one quarter, does my request roll over into the next quarter? Answer: YES, the Intel Foundation has a maximum annual and quarterly donation matching budget. For your contribution to be matched, there must be available budget WHEN MAKING a donation to a cause using Benevity or WHEN REQUESTING a match for a donation that you previously made. For 2019, the eligibility window for requesting a match for a donation made directly to a cause was shortened from one year to 30 days. Complete receipt documentation is still required WHEN making a match request. Match requests are NOT rolled over to the next quarter, they need to be made when funds are available and within 30 days of making the direct donation. The guidelines contain a table that explains cases that could result in a match request NOT being granted. We recommend that you try to make your REQUESTS early in the quarter where funds are most likely to be available for matching. These limits are applicable only to the Matching Fund Program and DO NOT impact the Intel Involved volunteer hours matching program. |
VOLUNTEERING AND DONATIONs (BENEVITY) – Ben Manny & Annette Bachmeier, Co-chairs
CAUSES MUST ANNUALLY RENEW ELIGIBILITY FOR INTEL’S MATCHING GRANT PROGRAMS
Both the Intel Involved volunteer program and the donation matching gift program require organizations to renew their eligibility each year. Eligibility is the same for both programs. Organizations need to indicate their continued compliance via the Self-Certification process using the Benevity Causes Portal. Current eligibility is required to receive an Intel Involved payout. First Intel Involved payout is expected in Q2. Eligibility status is noted when searching a cause using the Benevity Portal.
