FROM THE BOARD – Barb Frank, President
GOT W2 QUESTIONS?
If you have received your W2 and have questions, you can request a W2 Breakdown Letter that details what was included in each box on your W2. Intel will mail your W2 to the mailing address they have on record as of the end of 2017. It will be mailed by January 31.
If you have not received your W2 by mid-February, or you would like a W2 Breakdown Letter, request copies by calling Get HR Help 800 number (1-800-238-0486) and select the payroll option or option zero. Use the voicemail/call back option if hold times are long.
URGENT: ARIZONA SITE COORDINATOR NEEDED
Arizona is a major Intel site with 965 retirees. For the last ten years Sharon Bernier represented Arizona on the IRO board. Due to personal issues, Sharon resigned effective 12/31/17. We need a volunteer to represent our Arizona retirees. Commitment is a quarterly board meeting that is two hours or less. Sharon was also hosting the annual dinner, and can pass along her BKMs to do this. Any other social events would be up to you as Site Coordinator. If interested, please contact Barb Frank at intelretiree@gmail.com.
HEALTH & BENEFITS – Tom Piete, Chairperson
RETIREES HEALTH BENEFITS REMINDERS:
- Sheltered Employee Retirement Medical Account (SERMA) claim submission deadline is 3/31/18 to obtain reimbursements from your SERMA account for eligible health insurance premiums you paid during 2017. You are allowed to submit claims for eligible premiums for the prior year (January 1 through December 31, 2017) until the run out period ends March 31, 2018. For more information click here.

An observant retiree detected an error in this message. The error was in the effective date of the elimination of the Individual Mandate. Turns out the individual mandate’s enforcement was repealed, effective in 2019, as part of a major tax bill passed by Congress last month. The mandate remains in effect for 2018. Most people who do not have health coverage that complies with minimum standards outlined by the Affordable Care Act this year face a tax penalty of $695 per adult or 2.5 percent of household income, whichever is higher.
Previously published information below contains an error
Intel should shortly be issuing Form 1095 to Retirees enrolled in Intel Retiree Medical Plan (IRMP) or who have a SERMA balance. This form provides documentation you met the requirement of the Affordable Care Act for tax year 2017. This should be the last year you will need this proof since the Individual Mandate was recently eliminated by Congress for tax years 2018 and beyond.

COMMUNICATION – Debbie Watson, Chairperson
NO EXPANSION OF FORUMS
When gathering feedback for the Hot Topic Forums, we heard from a few retirees that would like to see a more general and on-going forum on topics of interest to Intel retirees. The Communications Team considered that request, measuring it against the organization’s priorities and the volunteer resources we have available. We have decided not to expand forums beyond the Hot Topic Forums which are an effective tool for communicating on topics that are both timely and important to Intel retirees. We encourage retirees who are interested in forums to do an Internet search on “retirement forums” to see a number of (non-Intel specific) forums that exist today. If networking with Intel retirees is your goal, feel free to join the Intel Retiree Organization Members-Only Facebook Group.
