NOTICE: The free download of McAfee® Livesafe™ security software is temporarily on HOLD.
Due to an issue preventing subscription-related emails from McAfee® from reaching SOME Intel retirees, the McAfee® LiveSafe™ software program is on HOLD. We are seeking a solution to this problem and will advise all as soon as we have a resolution.
The problem: Some IRO members are presently unable to receive emails from McAfee® (from the DoNotReply@McAfee.com) with instructions for downloading LiveSafe™ as well as emails with instructions for resetting McAfee® account passwords.
If you are unable to download the software because you never received the instructions from McAfee®, check your SPAM folder. If the email is not there, write to us at intelretiree@gmail.com and we will verify your forwarder address and attempt to help you get your email service to receive the forwarded McAfee email.
McAfee® LiveSafe™ HOLD FAQs
- What is causing this problem?
We believe that emails from McAfee® sent to retirees’ email accounts ending in @intelretiree.com are being filtered out by email service providers as potential malware and never reach the retiree.
It is likely that email filters are identifying the @intelretiree.com emails passed through by our email forwarder as spam or malware. This email forwarder allows us to give IRO members an email address that ends in @intelretiree.com, confirming to McAfee that you are an official Intel retiree. Neither Intel nor McAfee has a resolution for this problem yet.
- Would changing my personal email enable the emails to get through, for example from Cox to Gmail?
Email filters are used by all email service providers (Gmail, Cox, AOL, Microsoft, etc.) and are continually evolving in response to online threats. The email filters used by email service providers are not identical. We have seen instances with all major email services for some people. We have seen many retirees able to receive emails with no issues, but other retirees using the same email service for their personal emails are not receiving them.
- What should I do? Can I still download the software?
If you follow the instructions for accessing the software and do not receive an email from McAfee within 2 business days with download instructions or in response to your request to let you set up a new password, check your SPAM folder; it might be there. If this happens, send an email to Intelretiree@gmail.com. We will keep track of each of you and when we have a solution, advise you.
- Am I affected if I’m already using McAfee® LiveSafe™?
If you have a free McAfee LiveSafe software application already installed, this does not affect you, unless when you attempt to log onto your McAfee account and cannot remember your password. If you request a password reset URL, it will be sent to your @intelretiree email address and some may have a problem receiving the email from McAfee. If that happens, send us (intelretiree@gmail.com) an email and we’ll advise you when the issue is resolved
How to download McAfee®LiveSafe™
1. You must first be a member of the Intel Retiree Organization (IRO)
IRO members are issued an @intelretiree.com email address that will be used in step #2 to get the free McAfee software. It takes 4-6 weeks after your request to join IRO for Intel HR to verify you are an official Intel retiree and process you into the system. If you are an Intel retiree, you can join IRO here
If you have already joined IRO but don’t know your @intelretiree.com address, go to the email redirect FAQs to find out how you can determine your @intelretiree.com email address.
2. Fill out the McAfee form
- Go to the McAfee website www.mcafee.com/mls/intel
- Select your Country – Language: United States – English
- Copy and Paste in our Company Code: INTC7B6CAB
