1. How do I order a Vault card to use for Intel retiree discounts?
You must order your Vault Card online. These cards are authorized until 12/31/2014. If you have not ordered a card or lost your card, you can reorder at any time. Vault cards will be shipped UPS to your home address and arrive within 3-5 business days. When you request your card you will need to complete the entire order form. The first field is Company – put Intel (but put your home address in the address field). You must provide your personal email address in the correct field when ordering the card. The last field is your WWID. If you don’t remember your WWID, please call the Intel Contact Center at 1-800-238-0486 and follow the prompts.
2. Is the Intel Advantage program taking the place of the Vault/Passport program?
Intel employees and retirees will have access to both programs.
3. How will the Intel Advantage and the Vault programs work together?
Intel is moving to streamline our discount programs and provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for the discounts available to our employees and retirees. The goal is to integrate the Intel Vault program under the Intel Advantage umbrella. More information will be available as we get closer to this goal. In the meantime, you can continue to use the Intel Vault discount program the same as you always have.
4. What is the future for the Vault card? Is Passport being eliminated?
No, there is no current plan to eliminate the Passport program. Your current Vault card will continue providing your favorite Vault discounts until its expiration on December 31, 2014. Passport plans to eliminate the need for cards before the end of 2014.
5. What Passport discounts can’t we get at this time but are on our “ask Intel” list?
- The discount for FedEx is a Passport discount to which we have requested access.
- In addition, the McAfee virus protection discount and the Intel travel discounts are on the list of employee discounts that we are currently working on opening up to retirees.
Intel Retiree Organization is also working with Intel on opening up other employee benefitsto retirees as follows:
– Retiree invitations to major site events, celebrations and fairs by establishing relationships with the major Site Committees
– Access to Intel attorneys for legal advice for retirees working with non-profits
– Online access for retirees to IDF
– Share with retirees wellness articles or other articles of interest written for employee
– Retiree access to the Intel library to access research tools
We’ll update you on our progress through the News Flash.
6. What employee discounts or employee benefits are not open to retirees on the Passport (Vault) site?
- Microsoft: the decision was made by Microsoft to consistently administer their policy, which is to extend the discount to employees only
- Audi: there is no longer an Audi discount given to employees on the Passport site
- Verizon: the Verizon discount is for employees only
- AT & T (which had previously extended the employee discount to retirees in Q3 of 2013): decided to not make the employee discount available to employees and retirees as of April 2014
- GPTW movie/opera/sporting event tickets: for use by retirees are not centrally managed and varies by site with multiple owners. Herding cats comes to mind….
- Access to Intel fitness and health facilities: No insurance coverage for non-workers. In addition, the logistics of signing retirees into Intel buildings is challenging.
- Purchases of Intel parts (CPU’s, motherboards) by individual retirees: Intel has informed us that this program is currently not open to retirees.
- Discounted Tri-Met tickets: Process to okay discounted tickets include manager approval, the program is intended to be used on an as needed basis for employees
- Hyatt Legal Group: Not available to retirees
- Retiree access to clubs: building access issue, who signs the retiree in, communicating/coordinating dates of meetings an issue, no central structure for clubs to mandate retiree involvement
7. Do the two discount sites that Intel retirees have access to (Passport/Vault and Advantage) have the same discount providers available? What if there are differences in the discount available from the same vendor on the two different sites?
Currently, there are some vendors that have discounts on both sites. There are also vendors with discounts on one site that are not the other site. Since the goal is to integrate the Intel Vault program under the Intel Advantage umbrella, changes are likely to occur to the discount offerings in the future. More information will be available as we get closer to this goal. In the meantime, you can continue to use the Intel Vault discount program the same as you always have.
8. Why do I need a @intelretiree.com email address
To help you take advantage of some Passport discounts, your Intel Retiree Organization (IRO) has created an email address for you to use to show that you are an Intel retiree.
The address, ending in @intelretiree.com, officially identifies and validates you as
an Intel retiree.
9. What is my @intelretiree.com email address?
Your @intelretiree.com address is derived from the email address you used when you signed up for membership with the IRO. As an example, if Brian Beck joined the IRO using the email beckbrian@gmail.com, his Intel retiree email address would be beckbrian@intelretiree.com.
10. What do I need to do to set up my @intelretiree.com email address?
Nothing. When you sign up for membership with the IRO, your address will be set up by IRO’s web site team. This activity is performed once a month for new members who joined during the previous month.
11. Can I use my IRO issued @intelretiree.com email address to send out email?
No. Your IRO issued email address can only be used by someone else to send emails to you. IRO does not provide a full mail service for its members. We only provide a mail forwarding service.
12. Can other people send email to me using my IRO issued @intelretiree.com email address?
Yes. If someone uses your @intelretiree.com email address the email is sent to the Internet server that hosts the IRO website. This server will forward the mail to the personal email address that you used when you registered with the IRO. Assuming this email address is still current, the email that was originally sent to your @intelretiree.com address will then make its way to the inbox of your personal email address.
13. How do I get the discount with the @intelretiree.com email on the Passport website ?
From the IRO website, click on Benefits, then Discounts, then click on the Intel Vault Discount program link. Log on to the Passport website using retiree@intel.com as your email address to find available discounts. From there locate the specific discount that you are interested in. At this time, only Sprint, Chrysler and SHI discounts require that you use the @intelretiree.com when registering for their discounts. This enables them to validate you as a retiree, and to send an email back to you that is redirected by IRO into your personal email.
14. What if this does not work for me?
Escalate to our mailbox at intelretiree@gmail.com.
