About Us

Intel retirees from Oregon and Washington were the pioneers who established the first Intel retiree group in 2001.  The group was formed after meeting with Intel and the Volunteers of America.  The focus was to create an organization that would add value to the community through volunteer work.  In November 2008, Intel Corp. accepted our charter and bylaws and we became the official Intel Retiree Organization.

Since then the number of Intel retirees has increased substantially and the dynamics of the organization has changed. According to surveys of Intel retirees done in 2006, 2007 and 2008, employees are retiring younger and have a wide variety of interests. As retiree needs change, so does the organization. Today there are over 3000 Intel retirees and over 30% of them have become members of the Intel Retiree Organization. We currently have board members from Santa Clara, Folsom, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon/Washington and our international site, United Kingdom.

While the Board is the established governing body, each state creates an environment best suited for their area.  All retirees are invited to attend our monthly meeting, however, voting is limited to Board members. Meetings occur on the third Wednesday of each month.  If you would like to attend a meeting, please send your request to our mailbox so we can be sure to have enough bridge lines available.

Board members are elected and serve for a minimum of two years. Please feel free to contact your local Board representative if you have questions or would like to find out more about the group.

We have found that our retirees are passionate about volunteering and we try to share needs and volunteer opportunities with other retirees. Other group activities include luncheons, picnics, potluck events, an annual dinner, clubs, and travel.  Each of these are organized and run at the local level. A quarterly newsletter provides an overall update to all retirees.
